For those who think nothing of jumping into the car and taking on the rush-hour traffic, it’s difficult to fathom the panic of the nervous driver - the dry mouth, the manic grip on the steering wheel, the inability to get into the right gear, the fear of going above 20mph, the determination to avoid roundabouts and motorways, to get home before it gets dark, to never reverse……….
Dangerous Drivers’ School follows the sometimes hilarious, always sweat-inducing, definitely blood-pressure raising antics of Britain’s worst drivers as they try to overcome their fears through the “Drive with Confidence” course.
Each episode weaves together the journeys of three terrified drivers as they go through the process.
We get them and their loved ones to describe just how shocking their driving is – how many accidents; what is the worst phobia; just how terrified and terrifying are they?
Redemption comes under the instruction of our AA “Drive with Confidence” instructors. Can these big characters cure the phobias of our drivers within the limits of an intensive two hour driving lesson?
Post-refresher, we film the drivers as they hit the roads - driving on their own - to see if they have really learned the tricks to driving with confidence. And weeks down the line, have the lessons stuck?
