Each episode invites aspiring magicians to perform their best trick to try and fool legendary duo Penn & Teller. Anyone who succeeds wins the right to perform with Penn & Teller in their world famous show at the Rio Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
Penn & Teller: Fool Us! for primetime ITV1 is an original and daring TV magic studio based game show and format – starring the world famous magic double act – Penn & Teller.
A new way to do magic on TV. The rules are simple, the greatest amateur magicians in the world do their best tricks to try to fool Penn & Teller.
The live studio audience and the TV audience watch along with Penn & Teller as they try to figure out the secrets. The audience knows there are no camera tricks, secret edits or helpful camera cuts. They know there are no endless retakes. None of this electronic trickery is possible because Penn & Teller wouldn’t allow it. This is all real magic. Every other magic show that has ever been on TV has used some sort of TV “trickery” to help the live magic. Not this show. This is the only real magic anyone will ever see on TV.
Penn & Teller are loved and respected in the magic world. They created this show because they live to be fooled. No one becomes a magician without loving the wondrous feeling of being fooled and Penn & Teller are always looking for someone who will leave them gobsmacked. When Penn & Teller first got into magic as children, almost every trick fooled them. Now being fooled is a rare and wonderful event for the guys. This show is Penn & Teller chasing that first high. So the brilliant twist with this show is they LOVE being fooled ……
Penn and Teller: Fool Us is unlike every other derivative "Talent" show on TV. It is not a hunt for the World's Next Top Magician. It is a simple challenge open to all. Come on and amaze us, entertain us - and if you can Fool Us - then you win a unique prize. It is a celebration of magic and gives performers a prime time slot and the chance to say they tricked the World's Greatest Magicians. Which also means there's the opportunity for more than one winner in every show.
It's a REAL challenge for all concerned. The performers have to do their trick right under the noses of the greatest magicians of the day. Penn and Teller see the trick only once and have to immediately try to work it out.
Jonathan Ross is the host. He’s a huge fan of magic and it shows. He guides the audience through the magic world as he brings on the magicians who think they can fool Penn & Teller and chats with the contenders while Penn & Teller work out the tricks.
