An espresso with Nicky Davies Williams, CEO, DCD Rights
It was all about co-productions as well as finished programmes at the recent MIP TV…
The DCD Rights investments and acquisitions team has been busy in finding the best shows from around the world in factual and drama for MIP and looking forward.
The Heavy Haulers factual entertainment series and popular drama Land Girls, both with proven ratings and high production values, were the most eloquent examples of DCD Rights’ ability to provide quality finished programming to broadcasters worldwide.
Our Factual entertainment offering garnered significant attention notably with doc series World of Jenks making a remarkable debut. Travel series Last Chance To See, fronted by Stephen Fry and zoologist Mark Carwardine, confirmed international appeal, not to forget an increase in demand for reality wedding series Bridezillas, now in its 8th season.
Music remained a strong genre for DCD Rights with notably the new Paul McCartney: Good Evening New York City and George Michael: Live in London.
One of the nice surprises of this market was the broad success of Wildlife Safaris, a visually compelling three part series of unforgettable safari adventures across the globe with a strong appeal to the entire family.
Finally in the drama genre, the award winning series Land Girls was brought into focus by the re-commission of 5 new episodes, which opened up the market to a much wider range of territories.
Further releases will be made available for the summer and we look forward to be announcing some very exciting new content very soon.
In the meantime I hope you enjoy browsing and watching new titles form our catalogue online, as much as I and the team have in sourcing them for you.
